Where States Get Money

Really insightful graphic below.

Just 9 of 50 states get 50% or more of revenue from taxes (non-Federal).

Illinois is one of them.  (Not surprised at all.)

What do I find most interesting about this?

Minnesota.

Always hearing about the tax woes of states like New York, California, New Jersey and Illinois, I had no clue that Minnesota would be found at the top of this list.

In terms of total "tax burden", Minnesota is #5 -- with New York, Hawaii and Maine the top 3.  See that list here:

(Illinois is #10)

Taxes suck.  One of the suckiest parts of being an American, actually.  Especially when we witness tax dollars being wasted on stupid stuff.

But...... taxes are one of life's "necessary evils"...... in the same category as colonoscopies and dealing with car salesmen.
