New Words 18

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #18 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

snow ramp:

snow piled-up against a concrete barrier at the side of an expressway, leading to the dangerous potential of a vehicle "ramping" up & over the barrier

slacktivism:

combo of slacker & activist;  the practice of supporting a political or social cause by means such as social media or online petitions, characterized as involving very little effort or commitment

vacuum bomb:

AKA thermobaric weapons;  a type of two-stage munition that create enormous explosions;  launched in a rocket or artillery shell, the first explosive charge spreads an aerosol akin to vaporized gasoline over the area;  a second charge then ignites the aerosol fog

clasper:

she-cession:

one description of the coronavirus-induced recession as a result of women’s unemployment being higher than men’s unemployment

boomflation:

a period of fast economic growth combined with hot inflation  ((it can get way more technical than that, but I'll leave it there))

"The Zon" :

Amazon, of course

four-comma club:

verdigris:

a green or bluish deposit especially of copper carbonates formed on copper, brass, or bronze surfaces

racist roads:

That's 10 of them.  Enough for now.

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
