New Words 19

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #19 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

flopping (flop warning): an unsportsmanlike act that occurs when a basketball player attempts to influence an official's judgment by creating an appearance that a foul has been committed when there has been incidental or no contact

Darien Gap: the only overland path connecting Central and South America

lordosis (AKA swayback): medical definition for the forward curved spine in your neck or lower back

synthetic identity: a type of fraud where criminals combine fake and real information, such as Social Security Numbers (SSNs) and names, to create a new identity

liquid gold: slang for the plasma component of blood, as well as slang for human breast milk

stablecoin: a type of cryptocurrency that seeks to maintain a stable value by pegging their market value to an external reference. This reference could be a fiat currency like the U.S. dollar, a commodity such as gold, or another financial instrument

Nevis:  the smaller of the 2 islands comprising the nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean;  birthplace of Alexander Hamilton

sewage scanning: analyzing streams of human waste in order to detect patterns of disease/infection (also known as wastewater monitoring)

And there you go...... 8 new ones you can use in your everyday conversations.  Maybe?

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -

Matt
