New Words 20

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #20 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

hoopoe: exotic bird known for its distinctive appearance and enchanting behaviors found in various parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa

Paternoster: type of elevator having a chain of open compartments that move continually in an endless loop so that passengers can step on or off at each floor

Shade balls: plastic orbs that form a floating cover on the surface of a water reservoir to prevent evaporation

replacement theory: a conspiracy that states there is a plot to diminish the influence of white people, being achieved both through the immigration of non-white people into societies that have largely been dominated by white people, as well as through simple demographics, with white people having lower birth rates than other populations

rigidification: the process of becoming stiff or inflexible

Powassan Virus: rare but often serious disease caused by a virus that is spread by the bite of infected ticks;  named after Powassan, Ontario where it was first discovered in 1958

Wagyu beef:  also known as “American-style Kobe beef";   results from crossbreeding Japanese Wagyu cattle with continental breeds of cattle

Chestfeeding: term used by some parents who identify as transmasculine and non-binary to describe how they feed and nurture their children from their bodies

Fractal wood burning: the art of burning lightning or tree like figures into wood using high voltage electricity

Growler: an iceberg less than 2 meters (6.6 feet) across that floats with less than 1 meter (3.3 feet) showing above water

And there you go...... 10 new ones you can use in your everyday conversations.  Maybe?

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
