New Words 21

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #21 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

Stargazer: a venomous fish with eyes positioned on top of its head which lays in wait for prey on ocean bottoms

burgoo: a highly seasoned soup or stew made of meats and vegetables

immaculate inning: occurs in baseball when a pitcher strikes out three batters on three strikes each (only 9 pitches thrown)

vishing (AKA voice phishing): a type of social engineering attack that uses fraudulent phone calls to trick victims into providing sensitive information, like login credentials, credit card numbers, or bank details

blaccent: the imitation of Black English by non-black people (a blend of "black" and "accent")

diaspora: a large group of people with a similar heritage or homeland who have since moved out to places all over the world

decomposition island: highly concentrated area of organically rich soil found underneath a decomposed body (cadaver)

Cronobacter: a bacterium which thrives in dry environments;  can be found in a variety of dried foods, including powdered infant formula, powdered milk and starches

Baccalaureate degree: alternate name for a 4-year bachelors degree

Fruit Brute (AKA Frute Brute): one of 5 General Mills monster cereals;  now discontinued, along with Yummy Mummy

And there you go...... 10 new ones you can use in your everyday conversations.  Maybe?

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -

Matt
