Make Your Own Solar

For better or for worse, the interest in and installation of solar panels continues to have incredible momentum.  Especially with the government throwing incentives/rebates at those who take the plunge and install.

They are so ugly & unattractive up on rooftops.

They are so ugly & unattractive out in backyards.

They are so ugly & unattractive in large "farms" out on once-productive farm ground.

I fear that so many people are getting con'ed:
- panels won't increase home value
- panels won't last the stated life
- panels won't be covered by home insurance without a specific policy rider/addendum

For those who are feeling "crafty", this page is for you:

You Can Make Your Own Solar Panels, and It's Easier Than You'd Think

"It's amazing that we have devices with no moving parts that create electricity, just by sticking them outside.  But while turning sunlight directly into electricity seems like magic, really anyone with even modest technical skills can get involved, whether they're building their own modules from individual cells or building their own photovoltaic systems from commercially available modules."

(Justin Pearce, Western University Ontario)

Reading the instructions on that page makes it sounds just as easy (?) as crocheting a quilt.  Buy some of this, soder some of that, and POOF!  the power is on!!  Yeesh

**IF** I was interested in solar and **IF** I had some land to put panels upon, this is a much more aesthetically-pleasing option:

Until those 2 conditions are met though: no, thank you.

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
