New Words 26

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #26 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

idiot string: string attached to a pair of gloves or glasses to prevent them from being lost

congestion pricing: policy that charges drivers a fee for entering certain designated zones within a city, typically during stated or peak hours with the aim of reducing traffic congestion

Baker's cyst: a small, fluid-filled lump that forms on the back of the knee

rain rot: a common bacterial skin condition that horses can develop when exposed to wet conditions

gibbeting: the use of a gallows-type structure from which the dead or dying bodies of criminals were hanged on public display to deter other existing or potential criminals

glabella: the smooth part in the center of the forehead that is above and between the eyebrows

griffonage: crude, careless, scrawled handwriting

commotio cordis: an extremely rare, serious medical condition that can happen after a sudden, blunt impact to the chest

wasband: slang term for ex-husband

buddy punching: fraudulent activity where one employee punches another employee in or out of a shift at work when the person isn’t actually present

And there you are:  10 more new (??) ones you can use in your everyday conversations. :)

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
