New Words 28

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #28 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

pig-butchering: a type of online investment fraud that involves scammers creating fake online personas to lure victims into fraudulent investment schemes

greenwashing: businesses exaggerating their commitment to sustainability

greenhushing: companies purposely keeping quiet about their sustainability goals for fear of being labeled greenwashers (see above)

helicopter money: term used for a large sum of new money that is printed and distributed among the public, to stimulate the economy during a recession or when interest rates fall to zero

Cocos (convertible contingent):  debt instruments primarily issued by European financial institutions;  these securities work in a fashion similar to traditional convertible bonds

hotdesking: the practice of not assigning permanent desks in a workplace, so that employees may work at any available desk

fertility fraud: occurs when a health care provider knowingly or intentionally uses their own human reproductive cells during an assisted reproductive treatment without the patient’s informed written consent

Silent Saturday: the day before Christ's resurrection (i.e. Easter Eve)

And there you have 'em!  Gonna try to work any into a sentence this week?

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
