Vending Ammunition

Adults in some U.S. states can now buy gun ammunition out of AI-powered vending machines right at their local grocery store.

Say what?

Yup!

4 simple steps to get your rounds:  TAP, CHOOSE, VERIFY ID, PURCHASE

Just like ordering the value box at Taco Bell  (except for the ID part).

That "VERIFY ID" step is all done by computer:

AI technology scans the customers’ identification and facial recognition software to verify a customer’s identity.

Some would argue that that method is way more safe/thorough than some 22-year-old "I really don't want to be here today" cashier at a farm store or big box retailer.  I would tend to agree;  you gotta figure the AI technology has been programmed to detect a fake ID.

Right?

I would sure hope so!  And if there's ANY doubt, the transaction would be halted.

The company that makes them argues it’s a safer way to sell ammo than online or off the shelf. But experts have raised concerns about increasing its availability in a country where gun violence is already widespread.

"Increasing its availability"???

That does not concern me.  If someone wants ammo, they are going to get ammo.

What does concern me about this?

Muggings.

Just like with ATMs, will those with evil intent follow ammo purchasers to their vehicle?
