New Words 29

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #29 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

Summerween: the time of year (sometimes as early as July) when Halloween products start hitting retailers' shelves

Oropouche virus: an arboviral disease transmitted to humans through midge (small fly) or mosquito bites;  AKA "sloth fever"

skibidi: a nonsense slang term (popular with Gen Alpha) that has no set meaning and can refer to something good, cool, bad, or evil

swatting: an illegal prank that occurs when someone calls in a fake report to emergency services, accusing another person of a serious crime

brushing: a scam where sellers send unsolicited packages to people for the purpose of creating fake transactions/reviews on ecommerce platforms to inflate their sales and boost their products’ ranking

buccal fat: the fat between your cheekbones and jaw bones that help make up the shape of your face

seigniorage: the difference between the face value of money, such as a $10 bill or a quarter coin, and the cost to produce it

deepfake: an artificial image or video (a series of images) generated by a special kind of machine learning called “deep” learning

crypto mixer/tumbler: programs that mash up a certain quantity of cryptocurrency in private pools before transferring it to its designated receivers

sitzprobe: in theater, occurs the first time the actors and the band get together to sing and play through the entire score (German word meaning "sit and sing")

How many of those 10 were new to you?  If more than 5 weren't, that is absolutely skibidi!

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -

Matt
