Good News Bad News

lots of news today.
some good, some bad.

bad:
Randy Travis's brother busted on meth charges.

poor Randy's going thru a really really rough time right now with the stroke, heart condition and brain surgery.  now, the family's got this.

good:
the Dow Jones industrial average and Standard & Poor's 500 index closed at all-time highs. Preliminary closing levels for each were 15,549 for the Dow -- a gain of 78 points -- and 1,689 for the S&P 500 -- an 8-point climb.

good to see, but i still really believe we're sitting right on top of a big fat wall street bubble.  when will it pop and what will cause it?

bad:
A son of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky is seeking to have his name changed more than a year after his adoptive father was convicted of child sexual abuse.  Matt Sandusky filed papers Tuesday in Centre County Court seeking to have the names of him and his family changed.

man, i really feel for this family.

every one of us on this Earth should be striving to leave this place a better place.... every day we live.... every breath we take.  it's our legacy.

for a dad, i really believe that responsibility to leave a strong, solid legacy is even more important.  i take it very seriously.

Jerry Sandusky did not.  he screwed up royally.  really soured the family name.

and now his family is paying a terrible price.  to the point where they don't even want to be Sandusky's any longer.

good:
Moody's Investors Service on Thursday stood down from the possibility of cutting the U.S. sovereign credit rating in coming months, affirming the country's top Aaa rating and noting the resilience of the economy.

"resilience of the economy" ??
hmmmmm.... what statistics are they looking at?

i still guess this is good news, even if it might be based on bad data.

bad:
the city of detroit joins a somewhat illustrious list today...
-lincoln
-ulysses grant
-thomas jefferson
-henry ford
-walt disney
-circuit city
-chicago cubs
-stockton CA
-san bernardino CA

yup.  bankrupt.  the whole government.

just like all these other people, places, and things once were.  many of them bounced back.... survived.... did great things.  (except the Cubs -- ha!)

we wish Detroit the same.

what was that about a resilient economy again?????

out for now.....
