War on Washington (Redskins)

This deal with the Washington Redskins losing their trademarks is a crock.

Setting the "offensive" topic aside, bureaucrats buried deep in the bowels of our massively large and ineffective government can't be allowed to start canceling trademarks on a whim.

You can't take something away that has been granted -- without going thru the proper channels.

This Redskins deal sets a very bad precedent.

It's wrong.

It's unjustified/unsupported governmental intrusion into private business.

Frankly, it's quite un-American, bordering on communism:  the people only get what the government wants them to get.

Bottom-line.... someone whined about being offended and the government overreacted, violating the 1st Amendment.

Here's a piece of what the Chicago Tribune editorial board had to say about it:
The government, in effect, is penalizing (the Redskins) for exercising (their) First Amendment rights.
The name of the team is offensive. But the First Amendment does not protect Americans from being offended. It protects them from being silenced or punished by the government for what they say.
That's why Nazi marches and flag-burning protests are allowed despite the disgust they evoke.
Anyone disagree with that reasoning?
Please read the Trib's full editorial:

All this political correctness crap is turning us into a nation of whining weenies.  And turning our government soft.

And that both saddens and scares me.

Out for now.....
