Illinois Troopers Aid Chicago

You hear that around 40 of our brave public servants from the Illinois State Police are being assigned to work with/for the City of Chicago?



An approx. 30 day assignment.

To help chase down fugitives and serve warrants.

An effort funded by the State, not by Chicago.

So, my initial reaction to this was negative, as you gotta figure at least half of those troopers would be patrolling downstate.

More in Chicago = fewer outside of Chicago.  Right?


Well, that concern of mine is trumped by the one that the Police Union has raised:


Why aren't these troopers covering routine stuff (traffic stops), so that the seasoned Chicago officers can cover things on the turf that they are familiar with?

Strange move in my opinion.
