Lava
My MattChat picture of the day a couple days back featured the marquee of the Avon Theater, where we had seen the neat Pixar movie, "Inside Out".
As is typical with films from Pixar, things started out with a mini-movie ahead of the main attraction.
This one was called "LAVA", a love saga (in song) about 2 volcanoes.
“Lava,” about two lovelorn volcanoes, tells its sweet story through a song as well as lush character animation. It is simple and straightforward, and yet its lack of dialogue and traditional exposition makes it very different from a mainstream film.
The song is adorably catchy. We have been walking around the house humming it.... and even occasionally breaking out in song.
Listen to the song here:
And the story that is conveyed in the song, and visually displayed on the movie screen, is priceless. Touching, actually. Lots of metaphorical symbolism between the love of 2 volcanoes and the love that I have for my beauty of a wife.
Here's someone else's take on it:
The good folks over at Pixar have crafted another emotional rollercoaster ride in the form of “Lava,” the latest short film appetizer preceding the main course feature of “Inside Out.” In seven minutes the filmmakers will make you sing, shed a tear and smile as they tell the millennia-long story of two volcanoes in love.
Great stuff. Pixar did it again.
Out for now.....
