As we were coming home from Peoria late yesterday evening, we drove thru McLean IL, and I spotted something very cool:
Folks, you just don't see these signs anymore.
Route 66 was decommissioned back in 1985.
All the signs came down.
Thru the years, various groups in various states have put up various forms of signs to commemorate/designate/mark the Route's path thru each state.
But "old school" 66 signs like this just don't exist anymore.
I have to imagine that they actually had to manufacture some new ones in order to mark this detour of what is now "Old Route 66".
Oh, I would love to score one of these somehow.
