Yuck in Chicago River

So remember a couple weeks back here on MattChat, I wrote about poop in the waters of Rio?

(read: http://matthonnold.blogspot.com/2015/07/swimming-in-poop.html)

Yes, the same waters where the Olympics are going to be held next summer.

Well, it's now finally being recognized/admitted that efforts to clean-up the Chicago River just aren't working.

There's lots of poopy yuck in there too.

From the Chicago Tribune today:

"While Mayor Rahm Emanuel is fond of calling the river Chicago's 'next recreational frontier,' the partially treated wastewater that pours constantly into its channels poses stomach-churning health risks to people who come in contact with the murky flow.

Levels of disease-causing germs routinely exceed state standards for recreational waterways.   Muck and debris flushed into the river during rainstorms leave it teeming with pathogens in staggeringly higher numbers, with levels frequently spiking tens of thousands of times above legal limits."

Gross gross gross!

Out for now.......
