Basketball Uniquities
I was out in Niantic tonight for the high school basketball game between the home "Storm" and the visiting "Bombers" (wooo hooooo!).
There were several "uniquities" that I observed at the game which fall into one -- or more -- of these categories:
1) wow, haven't seen that before!
2) now that doesn't happen often!
3) that is very interesting!
4) holy cow, what happened??!!??!!
See what you think.......
- an arm to the face led to a drip of blood on the floor; the officials stopped the game, and the athletic trainer slapped on gloves to clean it up
- one of our Bombers fans won the home school's 50/50 drawing
- one of the trio of referees was not on court ready to go after halftime; there was a delay of 45-60 seconds waiting on him to show up from the locker room; that was very uncharacteristic for an officiating team
- the home team had a male cheerleader
- there was both a missed dunk and a flagrant foul (techical) in the same game (not the same play)
- there was a stage in the gym -- which is not odd; however, instead of curtains, they had really large (tall) folding doors, which is odd
- the dance team's performance ended halfway thru due to skipping music
- there was a heavy media presence: cameras from 2 TV stations and a 3rd from NowDecatur.com; plus, play-by-play guys calling the game live on radio
- a very unique scoreboard (which will be my picture of the day..... see next post)
By the way, both games were fantastic with the Bombers winning each one.
2 games plus the 50/50. Take that, Storm!
Out for now......
