Milk Price War
For several months now, the price for a gallon of milk here in Central Illinois has been shockingly low (historically speaking).
Aldi's store brand has been dirt cheap (below $1) for quite some time.
Prairie Farms milk at Dollar General has been running in the range of $1.25-$1.95, which I've been very happy with.
Then this week, we got Prairie Farms milk at Menards for a steal:
96 cents a gallon!! WOW!! Compared to $3+ back in early 2016.
But that's nothing compared to what Dad and Mom spotted at Wal-Mart in Charleston:
There's a real price war going on down there! Has been for months.
But, back in Macon County, Big Lots is behind the times when it comes to the milk market:
$3.39!! That's close to gas station pricing!!
Either they are doing this on purpose, their purchasing/marketing departments are inept, or they can't buy in the volume that the others do.
I don't expect cheap milk to last much longer. Too bad shelf life is only 10 days.
Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
Matt
