HAPPY JULY 4TH Y'ALL!!
It blooms only 1 time every 2 years.
And yesterday, we were in Charleston on the right day to see it:
The "corpse flower" in Thut Greenhouse at Eastern Illinois University.
I have been fascinated by this thing for 4 blooms (8 years)...... each time, watching its' progress on the Greenhouse's website.
Now I can say I've seen it and smelled it -- even though the horrendous odor was well-past peak intensity.
