Oscar Recap

No, I did not watch the Oscars last night.

Apparently, not many other people did either:

ABC's Oscar telecast reached all-time lows in the ratings, falling sharply from last year.

The three-hour-plus kudocast averaged about 23.6 million viewers and a 5.3 rating among adults 18-49, well below the 29.56 million and 7.7 for 2019's awards ceremony — which aired two weeks later in the year. The Oscars were down 20 percent year-over-year in viewers and 31 percent in the key ad-sales demo of adults 18-49.

There were a few cool things that happened -- these are the items that are most likely to be Jeopardy questions someday:

"Parasite" made history at the 92nd Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English language film to win best picture.

"Toy Story 4" received best animated movie, as did its predecessor in 2011 -- the first franchise to win a pair of awards within that category.

The composing team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin also shared an Oscar for their original song for "Rocketman," the musical drama based on John's life.  This was Elton's 2nd Oscar having previously won for "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from The Lion King.  His collaborator on that one was Tim Rice.

And that is all I have to say about this year's Oscars.

Grace & Peace & Love to you all -
