More New Words

Time once again for another edition of "New Words for Matt".

Words and phrases that I just recently heard or saw for the first time.

(I've done this multiple times before...... click on the "new words" tag at the bottom of this post to see all my previous "new words".)


BEE LAWN -
comprised of a blend of turf grasses and low-growing perennials that bloom again after mowing (ex. clover, dandelions);  enjoyed like typical lawns while providing nutrients for foraging pollinators

STRIPE -
A digital payments company that is Silicon Valley’s most valuable start-up;  recently announced a new $600 million funding round that bumps its valuation to $36 billion

RETORT -
the proper name for the chamber where the actual cremation process takes place

EAR FURNISHINGS -
the tufts of fur that grow on the interior of cat’s pinnae

PINNAE -
the visible part of a cat's ear that's made of cartilage and covered by skin, fur, or hair

FEEJAYS -
combination of footie pajamas and sweatpants  (i.e. "sweatpants with feet")

AMYGDALAE -
section of the brain that is responsible for detecting fear and preparing for emergency events

THIRD THIRD -
the portion of a human's life from age 60 to age 90


Always strive to learn.  Even if it's 1 word at a time, right?
