Just received this e-mail:
Seems like the entire year has been 11% off time at Menards.
Nearly every week of every month.
It's quite the little marketing ploy they've got going on.
Things aren't really "on sale"....... rather, purchasers get 11% store credit back on all (or most) purchases.
Why this is great for Menards?
- helps further differentiate themselves from Lowe's and Home Depot (which they already have done quite well by selling things like q-tips and canned meat)
- gets people in the door
- gets people buying stuff they might not necessarily need (impulse buying)
The icing on the cake for Menards? The percentage of rebate money that never gets cashed-in. Loads of money in their pockets! Read my further thoughts on that from this 2014 MattChat post:
