New Words 33

Came across some more "new" words & phrases.

This is set #33 of these that I've posted here on MattChat.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER:
As with previous posts, these are not necessarily "brand new"...... just new to me:  words that I've come across recently which I do not recall hearing before.

(I sure hope that one of the words below wasn't included on an earlier "New Words" post...... 'cause that forgetfulness would make me look just a tad bit OLD)

Falkirk Wheel: rotating boat lift in Tamfourhill, Falkirk, in central Scotland, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal

scambaiter: person who wastes the time of scammers by keeping them on the phone for as long as possible without divulging any information

Project Blue Beam: conspiracy theory which claims the global elites plan to fake an alien invasion

bridelope (AKA brydlopa): archaic custom/tradition in which the bride was both symbolically and physically swept off on horseback to her husband’s home

splodge: a mark or stain that doesn't have a regular shape, often caused by something like ink, paint, or spilled liquid

discofoot: sport that combines soccer with dancing, where players must dance instead of running while playing, and artistic merit is judged alongside goals scored

Afrikaans: a language developed from 17th century Dutch that is one of the official languages of the Republic of South Africa

bluesnarfing: unauthorized access of information from a wireless device through a Bluetooth connection, often between phones, desktops, laptops, and PDAs

Kessler Syndrome: space scenario in which the number of satellites and orbital debris is so high that collisions occur, each one generating more and more space debris and, in turn, cascading collisions

toddler tula: soft structured carrier designed for carrying children -- in a front or back carry -- who weigh 25 lbs. to 60 lbs.

Be sure to impress your friends with your new knowledge this week.  Personally, I am considering discofoot lessons.
🙂
